Edd Little, Sr
This is Edd Little, Sr at Oakwood Cemetery near downtown Raleigh, NC. A native of northwestern New Jersey, Edd grew up in the rural area near what is now the Delaware Water Gap National Park. Raised on a dairy farm, he shared vivid memories of his fiddling father and neighbors playing such old-time favorites as Monymusk and Leather Britches. His mother sang such familiar old songs as Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms.
A veteran of the US Navy in World War II, Edd was a source of great anecdotes and jokes. He loved to tell about seeing Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig play ball in a minor league park in New Jersey -- back-to-back homers, was it?
...and he always had a twinkle in his eye when telling such jokes as how his buddy got those bloodshot eyes.
Just as he had lived, Edd, Sr. passed away with quiet dignity in November 2005. Those of us who shared music and mirth with him are still guided by his knowledge, grace, and good humor.
